TweetNTwitch – the automated noise

by benton Posted in Gadgets, NYC

If you thought Scoble can rattle off a barrage of twitter traffic like no other, get ready to be amazed; the automated noise is here. The guys at BugLabs have come up with a new app to generate automated tweets based on real world events using there MotherBug platform. You probably saw them at Maker Faire, BugLabs has a suite of plug-n-play functional modules that snap together to support rapid device development, using an opensource platform for application deployment. Remember your old Voltron action figure, yah it’s kinda like that, but you get to program the head.

New York’s own John Connoly recently announced the project designed for the Mother BUG,  a custom bug app that detects motion and takes a picture when motion is detected. The event is then tweeted and the captured image is uploaded to Twitxr.

Feeling brave, you can follow @motherbug (though it only operates between 6PM-9AM EDT).      http://twitter.com/motherbug

You might have seen a similar concept from the guys at OpenSpime , using environmental sensor event driven notification methods via twitter and the like. The difference, BugLabs focuses on  extensible hardware as well,  including GPS, Camera, and soon to be Speakers/Mic. Next up for the TweetNTwitch, exposing remote config web services for the developer who’s bugged all his favorite haunts.

So which dorkbotter/maker is gonna be the first to run with the Bug Feeds, my money’s on one chillin outside the back door at The Waverly Inn. Click, Tweet, you’ve been bugged…
